Singapore's First Cat Cafe - Neko no Niwa

In Singapore, many of us have travelled far and wide across the globe. We have been to many places and seen many things. With our increase in travels, comes our increase in knowledge and personal experiences. We have seen in many countries how dogs and cats are treated with lots of love, respect & are a significant part of the family. For some of us here in Singapore, we have allowed these furry companions to share our homes with us. For some of us, we would like a place where we can go to spend time with these furry companions who offer their unconditional love and attention without requesting for anything in return. Many of us have been to cafes either dedicated to dogs or cats in our travels. Back in 2013, there were dog cafes but no cafe dedicated to cats in Singapore.

Dreams of Singapore's first cat cafe were started by 2 cat lovers (Sue & Sam) who strongly believed through their travels & interactions with other cat lovers, Singapore was missing something.

This something was a cat cafe where people from all-walks of life could experience first-hand the unconditional love & attention cats can extend to us, humans. More importantly, it is to be a platform to showcase Singapore's very own local cats (adopt, don't buy), to communicate about responsible cat ownership (sterilise, microchip & keep cats indoors) and to educate Singapore's next generation on cat care tips.

CatCafeNekonoNiwa_JJnKK One such cat care tip is - like humans, dogs and cats are what they eat - if they are given low grade food, they will remain sickly and malnourished. But if their diet is well taken care of, their coats & skin will shine and they will have a constant smile on their faces. Regardless of local or pedigree breeds, cats are obligate carnivores and they need a diet that is high in protein and low in carbohydrates.

Can & Clover is very fortunate and delighted to be a partner by helping make Singapore's very first cat cafe a reality. Through the partnership, the cafe cats started with FirstMate Grain & Gluten Free Cat Food in August 2013. In March 2016, they switched to Young Again Cat Food when we obtained the distributorship.
